Final preparations

My head can't quite grasp what's to come in the next days/weeks/months/years.  To describe it as overwhelming feels like an understatement.  But people have been doing this for years, right....so why sweat it?

I got all of Persephone's clothes, burp cloths, socks, blankets...etc washed this weekend.  I was also able to wash the cloth parts of the swing and bouncer we were given.  I probably could have just wiped them down or hand washed them, but it was much easier to just toss it all in the washing machine and let them get beat around for a few minutes.  For her we're all set...we have diapers/wipes/clothes/bath supplies/bassinet/pack n' play all ready to go.  The last thing I need are crib sheets, ha ha, thank goodness those are easy to pick up.

I obviously need to pack my hospital bag as well.  I've read a list of items you should bring, but thought I would ask my fellow bloggers:

-What were your essential must-have's when you went into the hospital?
-Were there any items no one ever suggested, but you definitely needed?  (even embarassing ones)
-Any items you brought that weren't necessary?
-What type of clothing did you bring for yourself for post-delivery?

I'm all ears!  Or in this case eyes....

  2. I brought pj pants and a nursing tank top to wear home. I actually ended up just wear a robe home (haha) Once you have a kid all modesty goes out the window or at least it did on my part :P lol We brought a couple different size outfits to take baby home in, you never know what they'll be able to wear. CAMERA! Do not forget the CAMERA! I also brought my own pillow..It made me feel more at home. I hate hospitals so I needed that comfort. That and my own socks. Something about hospital socks...not comfortable at all!

for the going home outfit..you will still look pregnant. basically something comfortable and covering is important ;) i like to feel like i look cute so i did wear legit clothes home both times! i look back and HATE how i looked but i'm still thankful i got dressed to go home!!!!

a big suggestion i have is to leave the hospital at a good time. with kye we got home at like 9 at night. soooo stupid. our first night was HORRIBLE. with britt we got home at 5 and it was all soooo much smoother!

  5. Oh goody, I can just bum my list from your post! Haha. But really, I will probably post about this same topic in December when I'm a month or so from delivery and I will look to you to give me answers!

  6. Tucks pads. I think they're for hemorrhoids (which I had...they just never really bothered me), but you can roll them up and stick them long ways in your, um, area (ugh, super embarrassing...but you asked!). Probably not necessary if you end up with a c-section, but since I had the biggest cut you can have down there, those things really came in handy. And while we're on the embarrassing topics, use Poise pads (for bladder control) instead of the ones they give you in the hospital, which are just ridiculous. Hope this helps...I sure had a rough time typing it out! ;-)

    1. Good news is I already have some Tucks pads, lol...for their original purpose. But my mom told me they're a HUGE help with the downstairs area altogether, so I'm glad I have them now! Did you know you can even use them on your face for acne??? lol I don't mind the embarassing stuff, it's usually those things no one ever speaks up on. Does Poise hold up to the post partum bleeding too?

    2. Well, yeah, that's what I meant! Ha! I did NOT use them for wetting my pants. That never happened to me after I had Cooper, so as far as I'm concerned it's a myth! =)

  7. Don't forget something to pull your hair up with. I had a c-section and was in the hospital wed-fri. I took a hair dryer and makeup but never used either. I also took a couple of outfits for myself but only used one to go home in. Take your baby book too, they should be willing to put her foot prints on the page in your book for you. My hospital did!
