4mo check up

Yesterday we went to see a plastic surgeon about the place on Persephone's head (known as nevus sebaceous). We went to Grady in November and the dermatologist suggested we have it removed as later in life it could develop into cancer.

He said it looked like a classic case of it, but told us to wait a few more years. Before school would be preferable so she wouldn't be made fun of if hair doesn't grow in there. He said if she ends up needing tubes in her ears or tonsils removed they could do it all at one time, but for now just to hang tight as its risk of cancer right this moment are non existent.

After that we hightailed it back to Gainesville for her pediatrician appointment. Her head is 16", she weighs a whopping 14lbs 10oz and is 25" long . I had never asked before about percentiles, but I did this time and he said her height and weight was in 75th. He did comment that she passed strength exam with flying colors. I mean I knew my baby was ahead of the curve, but it was icing on the cake to hear the doctor say it. Bahahaha I'm kidding, really I'm not that conceited.

4 months old!

I'll probably never stop commenting on how time flies, but it does.

I find myself sitting at work some days trying to remember I was actually out for 8 weeks and that I once had a baby in my belly.

Even my time in the hospital seems like a blur. You're in, you're out and blam you have a baby home with you. Each new day is so special though, seeing her grow and change and develop new skills.

As of today....

- Persephone is sleeping in her crib in her room.

- Eating 5.5oz 5 to 6 times a day

- Sleeping 7-8hrs overnight

- Laughing

- Attempting to roll to one side

- Can hold her head steady while propped on arms

- Shows excitement for mommy and daddy

- Loves watching TV (she comes by that honest haha)

- In size 2 diapers

- In size 3-6mo clothes

- Such a happy baby

We are so lucky to have Persephone in our lives. I fall more in love with her each day :)

Now for the fun part - PICTURES!

For the love of cats

Wednesday when we got home from work, my brother mentioned Tinker Bell had been a little off all afternoon.  He opened the front door to let some light in (we have a storm door) because the cats have always enjoyed looking out the windows.

Apparently on Wednesday a stray cat decided to waltz up right on our front doorstep and it really got Tinker Bell in a tizzy.  She came downstairs like she always does when we get home because we give them a can of wet food, but this time she stopped 4 steps from the floor.  I tried to approach her and she hissed and growled at me.  Hardy attempted to approach her and she did the same thing and took off upstairs.

She remained upstairs the entire night and even into the next morning.  She didn't want to be near me, Hardy or our other cat Flower.  I was pretty upset about it because Tink has never acted that way.  It was to the point where I was afraid to enter the same room as her.  Sadly, Flower was pretty scared too.  So much so he wouldn't even cross her path to go to the litter box and ended up using the bathroom elsewhere.

We made him a separate litter box Thursday night and kept Tink closed off in our spare bedroom.  Friday morning when we gave her food she meowed and let us pet her, but only for a few minutes.  I ran home for lunch and gave her some more food and she wanted to be loved on so bad, so I pet her as long as I could before returning to work.  Friday evening she let Hardy approach her so things were looking up.

She's still touch and go with Flower, so we try to be near if they're going to be near one another.

The vet came out Saturday morning for their annual visit (we use Shelton Mobile Vet, its only $70 for the house call regardless of the number of pets you have) + whatever shots/vaccines/other services you request.  Since our cats never come in contact with other cats or animals we only get the rabies vaccine.  After she had a chance to look at them, she said it would be best to put Tinker Bell on a low-dose tranquilizer to keep her mellow until this blows over.  She said it was normal behavior for cats...especially inside cats.  If they see/hear/smell a stray (especially male strays) it can set them off.  Since they're inside they don't really have anywhere to go and let out their aggression so in turn, the people/pets closest are the victims.  So we have a prescription of Amitriptyline to give her in the evenings.

Here's to hoping it works - - I want my cat back!

By the way...Tinker Bell weighs a whopping 21 lbs!!!  It's mostly fluff....I think :)

Spam

I broke down and had to add the word verification for comments.  Apparently I don't pay enough attention to the comments on my blog.  But I don't like seeing links about teen porn and genital warts on my stuff....sooooooooooooooooooooooo

I apologize, I know it's annoying...but I had to do it.

To end the post here are two cute videos from yesterday

Girls day

Since Persephone was born I've only been out a couple of times by myself or with Hardy, but it hasn't been longer than a few hours. Saturday was my first official "fun day" and I had a blast!

My friend Ashley picked me up and then we picked up Megan and on to Mall of GA we went. We went into Bath & Body Works real quick, they're were having a pretty great sale...all of their soaps were only $3, they had wallflowers 2 for $6...the list goes on. Afterward....believe it or not (cause it was even hard for me to believe), I FINALLY saw Breaking Dawn part II. It was AMAZING! I was a crybaby. I cried at the opening credits, cried in the middle and cried at the end. Thank goodness I had napkins from where I ate my popcorn :)

We headed to Olive Garden from there - yummmmm! Then they took me to this new store in front of Best Buy called Torrid. I think I've seen one inside a mall before, but its been years ago. Anyway they have clothes for plus sizes only (12 & up pant sizes). Some classy/causal and pretty clothes for women. I would have loved to pick up some new jeans, but the downside is everything was a little pricey. Even clearance items didn't seem like that great a deal because their original price was crazy high. It's a shame, I guess they charge more because they use more fabric?!! Hell I don't know. I walked out empty handed.

Our next stop was Queen of Hearts, an antique store next to Hobby Lobby in Buford. There were some truly awesome finds in there, but we showed up late and the store was closing before we had a chance to look at it all. I was on the look out for Disney art...found some, but not in my price range!

Ashley found some really neat things and I'm excited to see where she puts them in her house!

Last stop was Hobby Lobby...I could probably spend hours in there along with too much money. Such neat stuff, especially for DIY projects.

Anyway I had an awesome day with two great friends. It felt great to have me time. I did miss my sweet little girl and I guess I missed Hardy a little haha. I'm looking forward to the next girls day!
